Planning go-ahead for 132 new homes in Radcliffe

Plans for 132 new homes in Bury have been approved.
Salford-based housebuilder Watson Homes will deliver the scheme as part of a mixed-use development on Green Street in Radcliffe.
Of the 132 new homes, 97 will be made available for affordable tenures via Great Places Housing Group. The development forms part of the wider Radcliffe Strategic Framework, aiming to create a prospering community based upon a thriving and distinctive town centre.
The approved development will see construction of a mixed-use property comprising offices, retail and food and beverage units. Alongside this, the apartments will comprise a mix of one- and two-bedroom homes.
Designed by TADW Architects, the development will be highly energy efficient with a focus on sustainability including air-source heat pumps and solar PV panels. The office space will achieve a BREEAM rating of Very Good and will be home to Watson on completion.
Green Street is a key gateway site into Radcliffe. With a town centre in close proximity to canals and green spaces, Radcliffe has the potential to be home to thriving communities and become a hotspot for local development.
The plans for Radcliffe aim to accommodate the town’s growing population, which is expected to rise 5.6% in the coming decade.
Rob Watson, director of Watson Homes, said: “Radcliffe is a town with huge potential, and it is exciting to contribute to the wider regeneration works for the town. Our development will help deliver much needed housing as well as providing new retail and public realm for the town centre.”
The development is located near Radcliffe town centre, with easy access to public transport links, such as Radcliffe Metrolink and Radcliffe Bus Interchange, both of which facilitate direct journeys into Manchester. Development is set to commence in September 2023.
