Final phase of 264-acre Miles Platting regeneration under way

National housebuilder, Lovell Homes, has started construction of the final phase of its 264-acre Miles Platting scheme in East Manchester.
The site, at Saxon Square, is part of 16 years of works and the ground-breaking signifies the culmination of the company’s comprehensive regeneration programme to transform the area into a thriving urban village.
Delivered in partnership with Manchester City Council, the Platting Village development – once a depressed inner-city housing estate – has been revitalised through the whole house refurbishment of 1,500 homes from 2007 and new-build across 10 phases since 2010.
Saxon Square will deliver 28 homes to open market, offering a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom properties aimed at families and young professionals.
Paul Challinor, regional managing director at Lovell, said: “Getting the first homes out of the ground at Saxon Square is a fantastic milestone in the wider Miles Platting timeline.
“The transformation of the area through careful redevelopment – including new homes, green spaces, children’s play areas and improved pedestrian links – has created a fantastic community. It has also expanded the much needed housing stock, which still heavily favours apartments rather than houses.”
The new housing is interspersed with existing properties across the estate, allowing the new schemes to integrate with the existing community and improving the general area.
The works are due to complete in early 2024, with house prices starting from £299,950.
