UBS Global Wealth Management Manchester team

UBS Global Wealth Management has welcomed Andrew Carroll has joined the firm as a senior financial planner in the Manchester office amid a period of strong growth in the North West.

Jane Booth, head of the Manchester office, said: “On behalf of UBS, we are pleased to welcome Andy to the team. Andy is a high calibre individual, whose skills and insights will be integral to the ongoing success of our business in the North West. His appointment provides us with an opportunity to build on the new client engagements we’ve secured in recent months and helps to position the office in Manchester for further growth.”

Born and raised in south Manchester, Andy has a decade of financial planning experience behind him. He first joined the graduate training programme of a national firm of chartered financial planners where he gained chartered status and became a fellow of the Personal Finance Society.

He relocated to work in London for three years before returning to Manchester in 2020 to join wealth management and professional services firm, Evelyn Partners.

Additionally in January, the firm hired Jennifer Jacques as a client advisor in the Manchester office. Jennifer brings extensive wealth management expertise to the team, having provided financial planning and investment advice to high-net-worth individuals for more than 20 years. She specialises in business exit and succession planning, including both financial and wealth planning.

In 2019, UBS signed a 10-year lease on the firm’s office in Spinningfields, the heart of Manchester’s thriving business district.

Helen Beecroft

Stockport-based retail display business Silverpoint has appointed a business development manager.

Helen Beecroft, a senior designer with 25 years’ experience of designing for the retail and hospitality sectors, will draw on her valuable knowledge and expertise to manage Silverpoint’s new retail client projects – from taking the initial brief, through to concept, design and full installation.

Helen said: “Taking up this role, is a natural progression. I have been very fortunate in that my design career has seen me successfully supporting many commercial design projects, working closely with clients on projects to deliver real commercial benefit. I am now looking forward immensely to adding considerable value to client briefs here at Silverpoint.”

This latest appointment follows hot on the heels of Silverpoint’s appointment in April of a trio of new hires across finance, HR and distribution, and forms part of the company’s ambitious growth plans.

Nora Yassin

Print-on-demand merchandise platform Merchr has bolstered its team with three new recruits in line with the growth of the business.

Dan Delew has joined as partnerships manager, and Merchr has also recruited Ariel Or and Titilayo Salau as graphic designers.

Merchr, which has its production facility in Middleton, Greater Manchester, and offices in London, enables individuals and groups to create and sell their own merchandise collections.

Dan has five years of marketing experience, mainly in the retail sector. He has joined Merchr from premium fashion chain Tessuti, and previously worked at Regatta Group, sportwear brand Dare2b and Tech Nation. He said: “I’m thrilled join the team at Merchr and I’m confident that my previous experience gives me the skills to make a significant contribution to the company. I’m excited to take up this role and look forward to having a positive impact on Merchr’s development.”

Merchr co-founder and director, Nora Yassin, said: “Dan’s expertise in this industry will be a huge asset to the business. His arrival gives us the opportunity to forge even more impactful high level partnerships.”
She added: “Ariel’s strengths are illustrative designs, and she has an in-depth understanding of products and product design. Titi has a strong eye for detail and brings his designs to life in line with the latest trends. Both are very creative and imaginative and are great additions to the team.”

EY has confirmed the appointment of nine new partners across its Manchester and Liverpool offices, as the firm continues to make significant investments in top talent to meet client demand and support the growth of the business. The new appointments are part of a 10% increase in EY’s total partner population in the UK.

The new appointments include eight partner promotions in Manchester and one partner promotion in Liverpool. A third of the new partners appointed in the North West are women.

EY is on track for its third year of double-digit growth in the UK and these appointments put us in a great position to continue this trajectory in the years ahead. Matt McCabe has been promoted to partner after originally joining EY as a graduate in 2009. Lee Brown joined EY in March 2019, bringing with him more than 25 years of experience in the field of data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI). Ben Robinson joined as part of the acquisition of Information Technology consultancy AgilityWorks, where he ran the customer experience practice.

Jon Spooner also joined EY three years ago as part of the acquisition of AgilityWorks and has recently been promoted to partner. He also runs the SAP Supply Chain and Architecture Practice within EY. Hasan Ali is the founder and leader of EY’s Risk Innovation Hub. With more than 15 years of industry experience, Hasan is experienced in leveraging emerging technologies to develop transformative digital solutions for clients.

Emma Bradshaw has been promoted to partner in Manchester after 11 years with EY. Sam Mills has been promoted to partner within EY’s Turnaround and Restructuring Strategy practice after four years with the firm.

After 20 years with EY, including two years as Head of Tax with a client, Emma Rayner has been promoted to Global Compliance and Reporting (GCR) partner. Emma is based in EY’s Manchester office.

Victoria Barratt has been promoted to partner in EY’s Liverpool office after nearly five years with the firm.

Earlier this year, EY also appointed Elizabeth Armstrong as an insurance partner in Manchester. Last year, EY also brought in Ben Willis as a partner in People Advisory Services in Manchester.

Jo Sheerin

Jo Sheerin and Richard Lee have joined Alvarez & Marsal as senior directors from KPMG’s corporate finance team, as A&M starts to build out its corporate finance offer, ahead of Jonathan Boyers joining in late 2023, early 2024.

Boyers resigned from KPMG in January and has been held to 12 months’ gardening leave.

Jo will become director of deal origination at A&M, based in Manchester, after she led the origination team at KPMG corporate finance for five years. Richard has more than 18 years’ experience, focusing on the professional services and industrials sectors.

The new team will be focused on mid-market deal opportunities. More practitioners are expected to be joining the firm this summer in Manchester and London.

A&M aims to build a market leading corporate finance team, which, it says, will be more agile than the Big 4 firms and targeting the mid-market, which is smaller than investment banks generally target.

Kalia Walker, Alex Chialton-Gregory, Gayle Hough, Daniel Leith

Dutton Gregory Solicitors has underpinned its growth in the North of England with a trio of new appointments at its Liverpool office, responding to an increasing number of opportunities in the property sector.

Gayle Hough, a licenced conveyancer since 2002, joins as residential property executive, with extensive experience in volume residential conveyancing, having previously worked for Jackson Lees Group as deputy department head for seven years. In her previous role, Gayle was responsible for several legal teams, as well as the post-completion team.

Daniel Leith has also been appointed residential property executive, having previously worked as a senior conveyancer for Nyland and Beattie, and prior to that as conveyancing fee earner Head of residential at Prosperity Law in Liverpool.

The third new hire is Kalia Walker who has joined as legal assistant, having recently graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a BSC Law degree.

Alex Gregory-Chialton, office and business development manager for the North, said: “We are thrilled to have appointed three new team members with the experience and knowledge to help develop the service offering from our growing Liverpool office. We want to continue growing the team here. We are looking forward to continued growth in the region and want to grow the team further.”

The firm launched the Liverpool office in May this year in Exchange Court, Dale Street, to reflect its national client base by investing in a new office base in the North of England to accommodate 12 legal professionals. Dutton Gregory has offices in Bournemouth, Chandler’s Ford, Poole, Liverpool, London, Winchester, and Woking.
