More than half of new Lake District holiday park plots already sold

Meadows Retreat

More than half the plots on a new all-year-round holiday park on the western fringe of the Lake District National Park, have been sold.

Meadows Retreat has now opened, offering 50 plots, with 28 already having been snapped up.

The site is located on the A595 at Moota, five miles north of Cockermouth.

The family-owned business, which also operates the nearby Forest Views Caravan Park, has developed the site with sympathy and mindful of ensuring there are holiday homes and residential specification lodges for a range of budgets.

Director, Danny Hoey, said: “The site is around three and a half acres and we have ensured all the plots are spacious, so it will be a case of when they are gone, they are gone. We are open all year round, too, which is very appealing as it gives purchasers the opportunity to stay in their holiday home for a short break or an extended period.”

The lodges, all of which are surrounded by landscaped gardens and ample private parking, are generous in size and built to residential specification.

Hoey said a distinctive feature of the development is the investment opportunities a holiday home can give. Meadows Retreat permits subletting with no fees payable to the park, so owners can generate a healthy income from their investment, should they choose.

“Depending on the specific holiday home, owners can expect to generate lettings of between £99 and £180 a night, which is a great return on their investment. They can manage this themselves, or we can offer a competitive management letting service.”

He added: “Many holiday makers love to visit all that the Lake District has to offer, but without being in the thick of the tourist hustle and bustle. That’s what makes Meadows Retreat extra special.

“The location is ideal for peaceful holidays, yet is still close to the fells, towns and villages as well as the Solway coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.”
