Breakfast with Marcell Edwards, global talent acquisition, Adidas
In partnership with Fieldfisher, TheBusinessDesk.com is pleased to invite you to the latest in our series of bi-monthly business breakfast events.
Our fifth breakfast event features Marcell Edwards, Global Talent Acquisition, Adidas. Marcell will discuss:-
- His work with key partnerships at Adidas
- His work in supporting access to sports industry careers for people from disadvantaged groups.
- How businesses can set up employee resource groups to create positive action
Marcell has had a remarkable life, his experiences in the care system, entering education and how he has built his own career are inspirational, which is why he keeps being invited back to talk to audiences of young people in schools, but also to corporate leaders who need to grasp the reality of building diverse teams.
“At Adidas, we’ve made a commitment to diversity and inclusion. However, we recognise that there is always more work to be done,” Marcell says.
“When I look around my workplace here in Stockport I am roughly 1 of 5 employees of Black Heritage out of around 500. This number isn’t uncommon in large organisations, but what is uncommon is real action to increase the representation.
“As part of the adidas Talent Acquisition team, I see first hand the incredible impact that diverse hiring practices have on our organisation. Not only does it foster creativity and innovation, it also creates a culture of inclusivity and belonging.
“When I enter schools and share my story with the next gen, what’s incredible to me is when they resonate with my words. Although for me I’m just me, to some of them I’m someone real, someone who has made it out from underneath adversity who looks like them. I’ve made a commitment to show up!”
Please come along for breakfast, an unrivalled view of the Manchester skyline from Fieldfisher’s 17th floor offices and a chance to ask Marcell your questions and network with your peers.
