Inspiration breeds determination – Janette Martin, CEO of the year, at our Women in Business lunch

Janette Martin, the chief executive of Talos 360 was the special guest at TheBusinessDesk.com’s Women in Business lunch, sponsored by JMW.

She spoke about her own experiences in business, starting after university at software giant Sage in her native North East, she reflected on the lessons she’s learnt in her career, the people who inspired her and the experience of taking her current business through an investment process.

The sell-out audience at Cloud 23 at the Hilton Manchester enjoyed her account of how early experience at accountancy software giant Sage gave her the confidence to assume women could become a business leader – “it was normal” she said.

She spoke warmly of her friendship with Vin Murria, the founder of Advanced Computer Software where she was CEO until it was acquired in 2015, and where Janette worked as a managing director for five years, and from whom she learnt the value of nurturing people and being true to her values.

What also came across was her empathetic leadership style. “I’m passionate about people, customers and, most of all, driving a successful business to achieve growth and strong results,” she said.

The audience enjoyed her stories and strong messages.
