Second acquisition in 18 months for expanding ecommerce specialist

Velstar, the Liverpool-based ecommerce specialist and Shopify Plus Partner agency, has acquired Surrey agency, WeTeachCRO, in its second acquisition in 18 months, for an undisclosed sum.

The purchase of the conversion rate optimisation (CRO) specialist bolsters Vesltar’s capabilities, allowing the commerce development and growth marketing agency to offer a full suite of CRO services to its existing client base, as well as bringing on board WeTeachCRO’s clients, including Nando’s, Twinings, GoDaddy and Big Issue.

Velstar managing director, Graham Withe, said: “Matt and his team have built a strong business that aligns with Velstar’s long term goals, allowing us to expand our services to new and existing clients.

“This acquisition will see WeTeachCRO’s staff remain with Velstar, sitting under the marketing division, expanding our services beyond PPC, SEO, social, affiliate and email marketing, reinforcing our commitment to being a ‘partner in commerce’, building, growing and scaling brands of all sizes.”

Velstar’s deal with WeTeachCRO follows the acquisition of Chester-based marketing agency, We Influence, in October 2022, supported by Liverpool fund manager, River Capital, allowing the Shopify Plus Partner to improve end-to-end commerce support across major brands, such as Tangle Teezer, Comet, Castore, Avon and many more.

The takeover gave a combined turnover of £4m for Velstar, which was founded in 2016, and has been on a strong growth trajectory.
