Appointments: HURST adds to business services; DSG adds three; & more

NORTH WEST accountancy firm HURST has boosted its business services team with the appointment of Matt Smith.

Mr Smith joins the firm from Cowgill Holloway as associate partner in the business services team. 

The 28 strong business services team is headed up by partner Andrew Milnes. Mr Smith will be responsible for advising on audit, accounting and compliance.

DSG Chartered Accountants has strengthened its corporate business and business accounts’ teams with three new appointments in Liverpool.

Alex Nolan has been recruited to the firm’s corporate team following a previous role at Deloitte in Manchester and he is joined by Vanessa Woodcock, who arrives from Cobhams Ltd. Michael Carruthers, has joined the small business team as a trainee.

All three new recruits will be based at DSG’s head office in Liverpool.

THE Manchester office of Clearwater Corporate Finance has welcomed four students to its 12-month UK internship programme.

The scheme is aimed at undergraduates on their university placement years, offering the students an introduction to the world of corporate finance, private equity and M&A.
 
This year, the programme has welcomed Ravinder Judge, Maryam Tahir, Janice Au, and Max Williamson.

The interns will work in Clearwater’s research and deal origination team, whilst also supporting experienced deal leaders on current assignments.
 
The students will be working across all four of Clearwater’s UK offices, in London, Birmingham, Nottingham and Manchester.
 
Student Ravinder Judge said: “I’m so pleased to be given the opportunity to work with such a well-renowned company as Clearwater. I’m confident that this experience will serve me well in the future, providing me with a competitive edge over other graduates in this difficult job market.”

SIEMENS in Manchester has seen its first sponsored student graduate with a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Ray Wong, who has been sponsored by Siemens for the last four years, will now join the company’s graduate engineer programme in September.
 
As one of the first students to take part in the E3 Academy programme, a partnership programme between universities and companies working in the field of electrical energy engineering, Ray received a scholarship to attend Nottingham University, as well as paid holiday training at Siemens where he received on the job experience to enhance his studies.
 
Mr Wong, said: “Receiving this support from Siemens has really enriched my university experience. I’ve learnt so much from the practical experience I’ve gained through my work placements and am delighted to be joining a company that offers so many opportunities for an interesting and diverse career.”

B2B agency Marketecture has expanded with the appointment of a new account director and account executive.

Marijke Richards joins as account director having previously worked for the  NHS and Legal Services Commission and McMillian– Scott.

PR account executive Francesca Robinson is the second new recruit. With a BA Hons Event Management and MSc International Public Relations, she has undertaken internships at the ITV Press Office, Smoking Gun PR and Amaze.
