Channel 4 commits to Gary Neville’s new office development in Manchester
Channel 4 is to open an office for 100 people in Manchester in the St Michael’s development, currently being built by Gary Neville’s property business Relentless.
The move is part of Channel 4’s “Fast Forward strategy” to get out of its London based in order to “represent and champion” the whole of the UK.
The terrestrial broadcaster will take space in St Michael’s alongside Hill Dickinson, Pinsent Masons, flex space operator Gilbanks, and the luxury hotel operator W.
Most recently UK tech giant Arm said it too was going to expand its presence in Manchester city centre with the largest lease deal in the city to move into three floors at the £400m landmark development – and the largest in the city in two years.
Alex Mahon, Chief Executive, Channel 4 said: “This is a really special moment for Channel 4 as we continue our significant momentum to grow our presence across the UK.
“Channel 4 has always led the way in representation and now we are going even further, strengthening our Nations and Regions commitment and offering our people the opportunity to relocate out of London and making all new roles available at any of our regional locations.
“Manchester has always been a really important base for Channel 4, and we’re excited to be working with Gary Neville and his team at Relentless to grow our presence in this great city.”
Gary Neville, Director at Relentless Developments, developers of No. 1 St Michael’s, said: “We’re really pleased to welcome Channel 4 to No.1 St Michael’s. The broadcaster has a strong reputation for bold and creative content, and it justifiably joins the portfolio of highly renowned brands here at St Michael’s.”
No.1 St Michael’s is expected to be the first fully Net Zero Carbon commercial development in the city, both in operation and delivery.
The nine floors of office space will also have a Japanese-Peruvian rooftop restaurant from Chotto Matte.
Construction began in January 2022 and completion is due later this year. The scheme is being brought to the market through a collaboration between Relentless Developments and stakeholders KKR.
