Sixth Abode hotel to open in Chester

HOTEL group Abode is to open its second North West location in Chester this April.

The multi-million pound ABode Chester, the sixth hotel in the group, is based in Chester’s new HQ complex overlooking the River Dee, adjacent to Chester racecourse.

The 85-room, four star, hotel will create around 120 jobs when it opens.

The first new build hotel in the Abode portfolio, it will boast floor to ceiling windows, with the fifth floor Michael Caines Champagne Bar and Restaurant looking out from the city as far as the Welsh Hills. The 76-seat restaurant offers private dining facilities as well as an outside terrace.

Chef Michael Caines, who will mentor in BBC2’s Great British Menu this year, said:Chester Abode hotel “We hope that ABode’s offering of contemporary accommodation and fine food venues will give visitors luxury that every budget can afford without compromise on quality.”

Nick Halliday, managing director of Abode, added: “Chester is brimming over with tourist offerings and ABode Chester will allow visitors from all over the world to enjoy the city while making their base at a hotel which suits their lifestyle.

“The hotel’s fine food offerings will also make a great addition to the culinary landscape of the city and our restaurant and Champagne bar will provide some of the best views in the city, overlooking the racecourse and Cathedral.”

This latest opening is part of an expansion plan for the group that was set up in 2005 by hotelier Andrew Brownsword and two-Michelin-starred chef, Michael Caines. It aims to develop 15 luxury hotels in strategic locations.

The group’s Manchester hotel, based on the approach to Piccadilly train station, opened in May 2008.
