Hotel changes hands in deal off guide price of £4m

Mere Court Hotel

A Cheshire hotel has been acquired, off a guide price of £4m.

Mere Court Hotel, located just outside Knutsford, has been bought from North East-based hotel group, Edgeman, by Truffle Hotels.

Truffle was incorporated in November 2022 and its registered office is located within the four-star Mere Court Hotel, on Warrington Road.

Truffle Hotels said it is looking to invest significantly across the whole business to increase the leisure offering and to bring out the hotel’s full potential.

Peter Heywood, director of Truffle Hotels, said: “The Mere Court is a well established country house hotel in an ideal location.

“Our plans for the future should ensure it becomes a first class venue for both business and leisure.”

Cheshire-based law firm SAS Daniels acted on behalf of Truffle Hotels in the acquisition deal.

Steven Percy, partner and head of commercial property at SAS Daniels, and Paul Tyrer, partner in the corporate team at SAS Daniels, acted on behalf of the buyer, working in tandem to finalise the multimillion-pound transaction ahead of a busy trading period.

Steven Percy said: “Our team worked tremendously hard to complete this important acquisition and we look forward to seeing the new owner’s exciting plans for the Mere Court Hotel brought to fruition in the coming months.”

Sitting in seven acres of manicured grounds, the hotel has undergone extensive refurbishments and boasts an AA Rosette Restaurant.
