Housebuilder unveils 112-home scheme for approval by Cumberland Council

Plans for 112 new homes in Brampton, close to Carlisle, have been submitted to Cumberland Council by housebuilder Charles Church.

The proposals for the site, which is allocated for housing within the Local Plan, feature semi-detached and detached properties ranging from two to five-bedrooms, that have been specifically designed to meet the needs of the local housing market.

Charles Church is expected to provide contributions as required and set by Cumberland Policy requirements.

Thirty three homes will be delivered as a mix of intermediate and affordable rent properties.

As part of the plans, 5.15 acres of public open space would be provided on the development, which is equal to 37% of the total site, and a biodiversity net gain of 10% will be achieved on the site.

Built to new building regulations, the new homes will be zero carbon-ready and benefit from improved energy efficiency, helping reduce energy bills for home owners.

All homes will come fitted with electric vehicle chargers, PV panels and air-source heat pumps.

Andrew Laing, land director, said: “The proposed development would provide a range of high quality, energy-efficient homes for local buyers in Cumbria and we look forward to continuing our work with Cumberland Council as we progress the application through the planning system.”
