Regatta takes 400,000 sq ft in Ellesmere Port

TRAFFORD Park-based outdoorwear retailer Regatta has taken on a 400,000 sq ft warehouse in Ellesmere Port.

The company has taken a 15-year lease at Royal London’s Ellesmere Point building, where quoting rent levels were £4.50 per sq ft. The unit is next to the M53 motorway.

Regatta was advised on the letting by Manchester-based property consultancy WHR. Partner Mike Rooney said: “This is a fantastic deal not only for Regatta but for the industrial market outside of London it is probably the biggest industrial deal so far this year.”

He added that it provided “a clear indicator that the market is slowly turning”.

“Regatta is experiencing huge growth in its sector and with few large sheds readily available, we were able to negotiate a great deal for our client which also allows flexibility for further expansion going forward.”

Regatta is owned by businessman Keith Black and his family. In the year to January 31, 2010, the company made a pre-tax profit of £7.1m on sales of £80.5m.
