Interserve secures £70m contract in Preston

BUILDING and maintenance group Interserve has finalised a £70m joint venture with United Utilities which will see it build storm-water tunnels at its factory in Preston.
The contract – which is part of the KMI Plus joint venture – is among a series of wins in Britain and the United Arab Emirates which amount to more than £200m in value.
Interserve’s London operations have been awarded a separate contract by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to carry out a refurbishment of the Albert Bridge.
In the south-west, Interserve has secured a contract to extend and refurbish the Siblands SLD Secondary School in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire – its first project under the Construction Framework South West (CFSW) framework.
Interserve’s UAE associate, Khansaheb Civil Engineering, has also clinched a significant support services contract with the UAE armed forces in Qatar worth more than £90m.
Gulf Contracting, Interserve’s Qatar associate, has also won three construction contracts with a combined value of over £90m.
The largest of these is repeat business with Siemens, for the design and construction of nine substations worth more than £55m.
Adrian Ringrose, Interserve’s Chief Executive, said, “These wins demonstrate that we are continuing to reap the benefits of our strategy of developing long-term client relationships and that there continue to be good opportunities in our main markets, both in the UK and overseas.”
