DRL to create 300 call centre jobs in Manchester
DRL is to create 100 jobs in Manchester with the opening of a call centre at Bruntwood’s Riverside office complex.
The online retail company, which specialises in white goods and trades under the Appliances Online brand, is opening the operation to sell its Worry Free Warranty product.
Founder and chief executive John Roberts said the company is taking on 100 staff at Riverside in the first phase, but wants to extend this to 200 by the end of its current financial year in March.
He said: “I want to stress that one of the key reasons for selecting Manchester was the quality of the people we can attract.
“DRL has a unique customer-centric culture that requires high quality people with a special DNA.”
The company is already advertising positions on its website with basic salaries starting from £16,000-£20,000 for sales staff with commission, rising to £25,000 plus bonuses for team leaders.
“Earnings within the operation for top quality people are around £40,000, so it’s easy to see why we’ve been inundated with applications,” he said.
He added that Bruntwood “did an amazing job of convincing us that central Manchester was the place to locate such a customer-focused, sales-led business”.
“They made the building available quickly and have accommodated our recruitment drive in temporary offices across their estate while we do our fit-out.”
Last month, DRL announced that it was consolidating operations for its Expert Logistics business by taking 360,000 sq ft of warehouse space in Crewe. The new warehouse will employ 350 people – some of whom will relocate from existing North West sites, which are being consolidated.
