Solar panels supplier set to be wound-up

A NORTH West company supplying solar panels and wind turbines is set to be shut down in the public interest.
SPWEC of Manchester Road, Castleton, Rochdale, has already ceased trading and faces a winding up order in the High Court in May.
The move to seek the winding-up order follows an investigation by the Department of Business into the company’s activities.
SPWEC was only formed in January last year. The directors of the business are Lee Cooper of Bury, John Hallisey of Rochdale and Kevin Parr, also of Rochdale.
Last year Rochdale Council took action against Mr Hallisey’s previous enterprise, Simply Solar.
Customers claimed the firm had not delivered goods as promised, despite taking deposits of up to £3,000.
The Official Receiver has been appointed provisional liquidator of SPWEC. The winding-up petition will be heard on May 25.
