Buy Art Fair returns to Spinningfields

A THREE-day fair aimed at broadening ownership of art will host its fourth annual event in Manchester this weekend. The Buy Art Fair will host 60 galleries from across the UK which will exhibit works from more than 300 artists. In 2010, around 5,500 people visited the event.

The fair will be held within new exhibition space at Quay House at Allied London’s Spinningfields scheme, and will exhibit works by artists such as Laura Jordan, Alistair Gibson, Tibor Juhász and Whaley Bridge-based Rob Wilson, who specialises in paintings of architecture and landscapes around The Corner House, Rob Wilsonthe North West (left) and has recently been commissioned to produce a painting for Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini.

The event has been sponsored by Jaguar UK and Spinningfields and supported with funding from the National Lottery through the Arts Council.

The Arts Council’s Own Art scheme will also be offered to attendees, providing interest-free loans of up to £2,000 to purchase pieces.

Buy Art Fair’s managing director, Thom Hetherington, said: “Buy Art Fair welcomes some impressive established and emerging artists from across the country, giving visitors with a keen interest in buying and collecting original art a fantastic opportunity to view the latest pieces direct from the artists and their galleries.”
