Decision time for MIDAS over new chief

THE search for the new head of Greater Manchester’s investment agency MIDAS is reaching its final stages, with the conclusion of the interview stage. 

Final interviews for the five candidates, were conducted last Thursday and Friday and a decision should be made public in the next week.

The process was been overseen by MIDAS chairman Michael Oglesby and conducted by headhunter Robinson Keane.

MIDAS board members including senior KPMG partner Malcolm Edge and Barbara Spicer, chief executive of Salford City Council are also thought to have been on the panel.

The five  include the only internal candidate,  Tim Newns,  32, who is currently director of business development at the agency, having risen rapidly through the ranks since joining in 2005.

Other names said to be in the frame include Angie Robinson, chief ececutive of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

The process to find a new chief executive was launched in January after Colin Sinclair announced his departure for North West commercial property company Bruntwood.
