Swim company dives in at Salford Quays

SWIMMING coach David Quartermain has formed a new swim company called Uswim in Salford Quays.

It will provide open water swimmers and triathletes throughout the North West with access to safe, clean open water as well as to coaching from experienced swim professionals.

Uswim will run weekly managed open water swim sessions at Dock9, Salford Quays, next to the new Media City development and at Boundary Water Park, near Knutsford Cheshire.

Mr Quartermain has over 15 years experience in open water swimming as both a competitor and coach.

He was the first British male to win the Manhattan Island Swim in 1996, plus training other athletes for global triathlons and iron-man events, including the super six challenge, where he coached a relay team to complete a world’s first by swimming the UK’s three largest lakes and climbing the three highest mountains.

He said: “We are excited to bring this new recreational facility to the region.

“Dock9 is a superb venue having hosted the Salford ITU and the 2002 Commonwealth Games Triathlons.

“Uswim aims to deliver a professional service and provide the very best training experience for all swimmers throughout the North West.”

The first Uswim open water swimming session will take place on Saturday, May 1, more details can be found by visiting www.uswimopenwater.com .
