Appointments: Crown Paints appoints financial director; Jenkins leads RLB’s buying team; George Davies promotes Farrelly; and more

LANCASHIRE-BASED Crown Paints has appointed Kathryn Hill to the position of financial director and board member.

She brings 20 years of experience as a senior financial manager and finance director across a broad range of industries and disciplines to the role.

Chief executive Brian Davidson said that he was “delighted to have a financial director of such a high calibre joining the board”.

He said: “Building a high calibre management team to re-energise this business has been a cornerstone of our development strategy.

“We’ve taken great care to appoint the most talented and experienced individuals we can find, recruiting from outside and promoting from within.”

PROPERTY consultants Rider Levett Bucknall has recruited Steven Jenkins to lead its buying solutions team.

The move follows Rider Levett Bucknall’s appointment to the government’s £20bn ‘buying solutions’ framework which is a national procurement partner for public services.

Mr Jenkins joins from a major healthcare provider, has a wealth of experience as a project manager in the health and education sectors and worked on the iconic Norman Foster designed Circle Hospital in Bath.

MANCHESTER law firm George Davies has promoted solicitor Lindsey Farrelly to the role of business development manager.

Lindsey, who has been with the firm for five years, moved into a non fee earning role at the start of 2009 which sees her responsible for the firms PR, tendering and marketing projects.
 
Managing partner Mark Hovell commented “We made the strategic decision 15 months ago to put a lawyer in the business development team.

“Lindsey’s previous experience as a corporate specialist means she is able to take a lot of the marketing functions away from the lawyers such as drafting tender submissions, newsletters and submissions for legal directories.

“This promotion is in recognition of Lindsey’s hard work and commitment to this role.”

LAW firm DWF has boosted its corporate recovery team with the appointment of an experienced insolvency lawyer from Halliwells.

Gavin Jones qualified with a city firm and worked with London-based lawyers, Matthew Arnold and Baldwin until moving to the North West in 2001 when he became a partner at Halliwells.

Managing partner Andrew Leaitherland, said: “Our corporate recovery and restructuring team is well established in the region with over 25 years of experience. 

“Gavin is recognised as a leader in his field by Legal 500 and Chambers Legal Directory and his appointment builds on the leadership qualities of our existing team of partners.”

Retailer JD Sports Fashion has appointed Andrew Leslie as a non-executive director.

Mr Leslie, 63, has over 40 years of experience in the retail and footwear sectors. 

Most recently he was an executive board director of Pentland Brands from which he retired in 2008.   

During his career, Mr Leslie has also held a number of senior positions with the British Shoe Corporation and The Burton Group.

Peter Cowgill, executive chairman, said: “We are delighted that Andrew has agreed to join the board as a non-executive director. 

“With his considerable experience in the sectors that the group operates in, he will be a valuable addition to the board.”
