Appointments: MD for Thwaites Beer ; New partners for Keoghs & more

LANCASHIRE brewer Daniel Thwaites has lured Greene King executive Steve Magnall to be managing director of its brewing operation, Daniel Thwaites Beer Co.
Magnall is currently the deputy managing director of Bury St Edmonds-based Greene King Brewing and Brands, where he has worked for the past eight years. He has previously worked in the food manufacturing industry and is also a non-executive director of Cask Marque.
Thwaites’ chief executive Richard Bailey said: “This is an exciting time for us as we progress our plans to move to a new site and build a new brewery, we continue to grow our own brewed beers including our mainstream and seasonal ales and increase our presence outside our heartland.
“I am delighted that we have been able to attract Steve into the company and he has much to offer us as we develop our business.” He will join the Blackburn-based business by the end of next April.

BOLTON law firm Keoghs, which specilaises in the insurance sector, has hired two new partners – insurance fraud specialist Paul Smith and risk and compliance director Philippa Hayes.
Paul Smith, who qualified with Keoghs, returns after a spell with Hill Dickinson.
Philippa Hayes will lead Keoghs’ risk and compliance team, taking responsibility for regulatory compliance, infomatuion security, data protection, anti-money laundering and health and safety, as well as a host of other risk-related issues.
She trained with Herbert Smith and went on to become a commercial litigation partner with national firms Addleshaw Goddard and Hammonds. Before joining Keoghs, she was the risk and compliance director at Robin Simon LLP.

LAW firm Mills & Reeve has strengthened its insurance team in Manchester with bthe appointment of solicitor, Annie Tombleson, who recently qualified having trained with Watson Burton in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Meanwhile the firm has appointed Edward Coulson , formerly a partner at Davies Arnold Cooper in Manchester as a consultant at its Leeds office.
