RECRUITMENT firm Genesis Associates has snapped up a rival agency as part of an aggressive growth plan.

Genesis Associates, which has an office in Manchester city centre and is headquartered in Handforth Dean, has snapped up PeopleGenius Ltd – an agency focused on the recruitment of analytics professionals.

Genesis, which specialises in recruiting for niche business functions – such as sales, engineering, IT and finance, believes the acquisition will help it grow turnover from £2.5m to £4m this year.

Founder and managing director Patrick Bell said: “We launched the Manchester office in Lowry House this summer and employed 10 team members initially. We want to grow this, with plans for 60 employees across the city centre and Handforth office within the next 12 months.

“We recorded a 98% growth in turnover last year and acquisitions such as this will help strengthen our business further. This benefits the Genesis group and is testament to our determination to become the leading supplier of high end niche recruitment services both in the UK and internationally

“Our existing specialist divisions – including change management, finance and IT architecture – have synergy with the work carried out by PeopleGenius and so this was a natural fit.  Having this additional expertise allows us to continue to service our clients and meet and exceed their demands.”

The PeopleGenius team is now working in the Manchester office. Former PeopleGenius managing director Daniel Holdsworth has taken a senior management role within Genesis and will focus on growing the analytics division.

He said: “We will continue to service our existing clients while working with the Genesis team to grow our offering to the market. The deal has been in the pipeline for a little while and we are delighted this has now come to fruition.”
