HMV win for Conveyor Networks

CONVEYOR Networks has designed and installed a new automated conveyor system at HMV’s Birmingham warehouse and won a 12 month maintenance contract for the company’s Guernsey operation.

The Lymm-based factory and logistics automation company designed an automated system to enable the picking and packing process to become more efficient through the effective transportation of cartons and pallets.

It needed to re-use parts of an existing system and integrate them with a new conveyor system and install the system without interrupting the warehousing operation which works 24/7 replenishing HMV’s high street shops with Games and Technology product.

David Carroll, managing director of Conveyor Networks, said: “The Birmingham project presented us with a number of significant challenges, the main one being the need to re-use parts of machinery from existing systems and integrate them with new systems in a different warehouse.

“We worked closely with our partners Transnorm to find the most appropriate solution and our team of experienced engineers ensured the installation of the system did not interrupt the day to day running of the HMV warehousing operation.”

Conveyor Networks has also been awarded the support contract for the maintenance of HMV’s Internet fulfilment centre in Guernsey.

Fraser Paget, supply chain project manager for HMV said:  “The support and service levels they provide give us peace of mind that our systems are able to operate as effectively as possible, particularly important as we reach our busiest period.”
