Developer is Silkmen’s newest signing

COMMERCIAL property developer St Modwen has signed a deal with Macclesfield Town Football club to relocate to a new ground.
The npower League Two club is planning to build a new, 7,000-seat stadium at a new, 130-acre mixed-use scheme in the town known as the South Macclesfield Development Area (SMDA), which is close to its existing Moss rose ground.
The new, low-carbon stadium would also have conferencing facilities and a community sports complex.
Macclesfield Town chairman Mike Rance said: “Our ambitious plans to create a new home for the Silkmen have taken a big step forward with the announcement of this partnership.
“St. Modwen is the ideal partner for a project that we hope will not only meet the needs of the club but will also bring substantial benefits for the local community.”
Michelle Taylor, regional director at St. Modwen, said: “We’re delighted to be chosen by Macclesfield Town as its development partner in such an exciting project. We will be working hard to bring forward inspiring proposals which reflect the vision of the club and the local community.”
