A SPECIALIST contracting company which has taken on 80 staff since opening its first Merseyside office a year ago is planning to take on an extra 40 staff.

IQA Group, which is headquartered at Paisley, near Renfrewshire, is a specialist contractor providing electrical, building maintenance and civil engineering works on behalf of major clients like Scottish Power.

The firm said the jobs would be created through the launch if a sister company, Innovo Energy, which will sell renewable energy services to commercial and domestic premises.

Carl Rugen, North West electrical operations manager for IQA Group, said: “We will be looking to recruit more employees in the New Year through our sister company Innovo, which will provide renewable energy products such as solar panels, heat pumps and wind turbines to homes and businesses.

“This is great news and comes after a really successful first year in Merseyside, where we have been carrying out various projects for Scottish Power. Our work also includes the replacing of electrical network cables as part of a large, on-going project in Speke.

“We feel we are in a great location which is working well for us.”

IQA’s North West office is in Knowsley.

Lesley Martin-Wright, chief executive of Knowsley Chamber of Commerce, said: “I am really encouraged that IQA has enjoyed such a successful first year and is in a position to create further jobs in the borough, particularly in such a tough economic climate.”
