10K challenge to North West businesses

ORGANISERS of the City of Manchester 10k run are calling on North West businesses to encourage their staff to put on their running shoes and enter corporate teams to help raise money for charity.
The race takes place on Sunday July 4. and is run over a two-lap course, which starts and finishes at the Regional Athletics Track, going around the City of Manchester Stadium.
Organiser Sports Tours would like businesses to get involved through the Corporate Challenge, open to all firms with a team of three or more runners.
Race director Graham Jackson said: “Last year we had over 20 corporate teams involved and raising money for their chosen charities. No matter what charity it is and how much is raised a lot of charities will have a little bit more to spend after this race takes place.”
Not to be confused with the BUPA Great Manchester Run in May, the July event will see more than 2,000 runners of all ages, sizes and abilities taking to their marks at SportCity.
Runners will help to raise funds for the four nominated charities – The Lord Mayor of Manchester’s Charity appeal, Francis House Children’s Hospice, Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Cash for Kids.
