Redbridge upgrades barristers’ chambers

ST JOHN’S Buildings Barristers Chambers has completed a £500,000 overhaul of its property at St John St, Manchester.
The chambers, located within three adjoining buildings at 24a, 26 and 28 St John St, has been refurbished by Redbridge Interiors.
The 33-week programme of works to the three early 19th century, Grade II-listed buildings involved gaining planning approval, spatial design, the installation of new electrical and plumbing systems as well as full modernisation of the IT infrastructure.
In 2002, 28 and 26 St John Street merged with 24a St John Street and the three buildings were knocked into one. As a result, the building had no consistency in its design, finishes or furniture and its space was poorly utilised.
The firm said that the new design reflected the heritage of the organisation and its buildings but also projected its future vision.
Chief Clerk Chris Ronan said: “Redbridge’s credentials speak for themselves, but they understand our requirements explicitly having previously refurbished our Preston and Chester Chambers.
“The project was delivered on time, to budget and importantly did not disrupt our work as Redbridge’s flexible approach enabled them to work around us.”
Martin Bridge, managing director at Redbridge Interiors said: “It’s extremely satisfying to see the buildings restored to their former glory.”
