Enterprise wins power contracts worth £33m

CIVIL engingeering and maintenance giant Enterprise Group has announced that it has won four new contracts in the power sector worth £33m.

The Leyland-based company has won two contracts with Scottish and Southern Energy Group – one is a framework contract to install its ABC Overhead Line in southern England and the other is to build a Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) sbustation at Dounreay in northern Scotland. The substation is being built by a consortium (of which Enterprise is a member) for Scottish Hydro Electric and forms part of a wider programme to upgrade the facility to receive power from offshore windfarms.

The framework contract has a potential value of circa £18m over a five year period and Enterprise’s share of the consortium project is worth £9m.

The other two contract wins were both awarded by subsidiaries of the Scottish Power Group. Scottish Power Renewables has awarded a project to design and build an extension substation for the Whitlee Windfarm at East Kilbride and Scottish Power Energy Networks has commissioned the firm to install 22km of 33kV cable in Lanarkshire. The combined value of these contracts is around £6m.

Enterprise chief executive Neil Kirkby said: “The energy management and renewables markets represent a growing part of our power business with exciting opportunities for the future. These contract successes underpin our continued progress and demonstrate our strong credentials in this expanding sector.”
