Lancashire firm goes green

A LANCASHIRE firm has had more than 200 solar panels installed to help combat its rising energy bills and boost its green credentials.

Burnley-based Westbury Filtermation, which manufactures air filters, uses large amounts of electricity during its production process.

Managing director Andrew Parker got Liverpool-based Eco Environments to conduct a review of its energy use with a view to cutting carbon emissons and the firm won a tender to install 204 new Hyundai solar panels.

Mr Parker said: “Eco Environments completed a detailed review and presented the substantial savings that could be achieved to electricity bills and Co2 emissions, as well as demonstrating the amount of income we could receive from the feed-in-tariff incentives.

“We were very impressed by the company’s extensive industry knowledge and customer recommendations as well as the added value it brought to the project.”

The firm estimates it will save £3,500 a year on electricity bills and see an average annual return on its investment of 27%.

Chris Acton, commercial business development manager at Eco Environments, said: “Westbury is an ideal customer because they understand the importance and significant benefits of developing a comprehensive environmental strategy with solar PV as one of the key elements.”
