Trust gets green light for 95 new homes

TRAFFORD Housing Trust has been given the go ahead to build 95 affordable homes across two sites.
The trust has gained planning approval to build 33 family homes on the site of Calder Court in Urmston, which was previously a sheltered accommodation unit. These will be a mix of three- and four-bed family homes, with 16 available via shared ownership, 10 for rent and seven for outright sale.
The scheme received a grant from the Homes & Communities Agency and work is due to start on site in April 2013.
Meanwhile, permission has also been granted to build 62 new homes at Essex Way, Old Trafford.
The scheme will consist of 29 two-bed houses and 33 two-bed flats for affordable rent.
Work is expected to get underway at the end of March with the development completed by July 2013.
David Barrow, commercial director of Trafford Housing Trust, said: “Both of these developments will help address the housing shortage in the borough. There are currently more than 11,400 people on the housing waiting list in Trafford and I’m confident these quality and affordable homes will be in high demand.”
