THE Annual Hotel Conference (AHC) has signed a four-year deal with Visit Manchester to keep the the event in the city until 2015.

The conference, which is aimed at hotel owners, developers and investors, is set to take place at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate in October 3-4 for the eighth consecutive year in 2012 and tourism chiefs say the new four-year extension will generate around £1m for Manchester’s economy.

Paul Simpson, managing director of Visit Manchester, said: “The AHC has really gained momentum in recent years. In addition to the economic impact it will bring, there is, of course, no harm to us in hosting the hospitality industry’s most influential figures.

“This is a great opportunity for us to showcase Manchester’s £5.4bn tourism industry to AHC delegates and we look forward to welcoming them in October.”

Christopher Eddlestone, chief executive of AHC, added: “We see our partnership with Visit Manchester as an integral part of our plan to develop the conference.

“There was a 25% increase in the number of delegates in 2011 and we believe this demonstrates the great potential there is for the conference and the host city.”
