Jones promoted to top UK role at Brother

PHIL Jones, one of the North West’s most high profile business leaders, has been promoted to the top UK role at Brother, the Japanese-owned printer manufacturer.
Currently sales and marketing director, from April 1, he will become UK country head and deputy managing director, taking over operational responsibility for the 180-strong Manchester-based company.
He will succeed Hiroshi Miura, who is returning to Japan after four and a half years as UK managing director.
In his new role Mr Jones, a former Institute of Directors’ Director of the Year, he will lead the technology company’s strategy and commercial operations, reporting to the MD of Brother International Europe, who will also assume the UK MD statutory functions.
Brother UK generated annual sales of £104m in the last financial year to the end of March 2011 and pre-tax profits of £8.5m.
Mr Jones has an 18-year career with Brother, rising through the ranks from selling fax machines.
