Testing begins at Enegi’s offshore Canadian field

MANCHESTER-based Enegi Oil has announced that it has begun testing work at its Green Point Shale site off the coast of Newfoundland in Canada.
Testing of the 3K39 well is being carried out by Shoal Point Energy under a farm-out agreement and is likely to be completed within 35 days.
Enegi had held the exploration licence for the entire area, but initially gave a minority stake to Shoal Point Energy to carry out the exploration. In 2009, its deal was revised when it agreed to swap its interest in a less conventional, shallower part of the field for 100% of the ownership of the more conventional, deeper part known as St George’s.
Enegi Oil CEO Alan Minty said: “We welcome the announcement from SPE as it is a positive step towards obtaining an SDL (significant discovery licence) over EL1070, the lower portion of which is 100%-owned by the company and contains the conventional Shoal Point lead.
“We also keenly await with interest the upcoming test results from SPE and the imminent Green Point Shale report from AJM Deloitte, which will provide insight into the prospectivity of the Green Point Shale on our acreage.”
