Liverpool shows off SuperPort plans

LIVERPOOL is set to show off plans for £1.8bn of investment in its proposed SuperPort at a three-day industry event beginning tomorrow.
The LEP and key Partners including Peel Ports, property developers and Mersey Maritime, are promoting the area’s logistics infrastructure at Multimodal 2012, the sector’s biggest annual UK gathering taking place at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre.
Development of SuperPort infrastructure is attracting £1.8bn of investment in new facilities with the potential to create 30,000 new local jobs by 2030, according to the City Region’s Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
Mark Basnett, executive director for Key Growth Sectors at the City Region LEP, said: “We’re taking a strong message to this major event – that Liverpool City Region offers excellent, cost-effective, low carbon multi-modal connectivity for UK and Ireland logistics operations.
The delegation will also host a seminar at the conference is entitled “SuperPort Centric Logistics – The Retailer’s Perspective” which will feature Shop Direct Group, Metro Shipping and Peel Ports to talk through SuperPort and the City Region’s credentials as a logistics hub.
