LEP launches supply chain initiative

LIVERPOOL’S new local enterprise partnership has hosted an event for manufacturers to explain how they can benefit from the government’s Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI).

The event also featured the launch of the AMSCI competition for the north of England.

The initiative will provide grants and loans to successful projects which improve supply chains in sectors such as aerospace, automotive chemicals and low carbon.

It is based on a successful regional growth fund (RGF) bid by a group of LEPs from Liverpool and the West Midlands, which focussed on supporting the automotive and aerospace sectors.

Alan Welby, executive director for Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership said: “Advanced Manufacturing plays a significant part of Liverpool City Region’s economy – with over 3,000 manufacturing companies employing 35,000 people.

“This fund will help strengthen the City Region’s manufacturing sector by giving a helping hand to the companies wanting to develop their products. It will also enable us to create a climate that will encourage national and international manufacturers to set up or develop existing operations in the city-region.”
