easyJet launches Basel route

BUDGET airline easyJet is continuing to grow in the region, and is adding a third Swiss destination, Basel. from late October.

The carrier, which already serves Geneva and Zurich, will operate the route four times a week – Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday  – from October 29.

The flights are already on sale with fares starting from £22.99 (one-way, including taxes).

Ali Gayward, easyJet UK commercial manager, said: “Today’s announcement is further evidence of our commitment to growth in Manchester.

“Improving connections for both business and leisure passengers in the region is a key priority for us and we will continue to develop our service from Manchester to meet demand from our customers.

“The historic city of Basel provides access to some of Switzerland’s best skiing regions as well as Alsace and Germany’s Black Forest. Basel is also one of Switzerland’s key commercial cities so the new route is set to strengthen tourism and business links between Manchester and Switzerland.”
