NG Bailey begins work on Town Hall

BUILDING Services firm NG Bailey has begun work on a £26m contract to refurbish the Town Hall Extension and Central Library buildings in Manchester.

The work, which is part of Manchester City Council’s £95m Town Hall Complex Transformation Project, will see it replace mechanical and electrical services across the complex, which includes a new system to provide heading and cooling, a natural ventilation system for open office areas and a rainwater recycling scheme.

Work on the Grade II*-listed complex is set to complete by 2014 and is being carried out under the guidelines of the English Heritage Trust.

Mike Darlington, NG Bailey’s managing director for the firm’s north & Scotland Engineering division, said: “We are extremely proud to have been selected for this major Manchester project.

“The Town Hall Extension and the Central Library generate a phenomenal amount of visitors to the City and we are looking forward to being part of the transformation project.”
