Williams to head Atlantic Gateway push

FORMER Trafford Council leader Sue Williams has been appointed as executive director of the Atlantic Gateway Partnership.
The partnership – a public/private joint venture to promote the £50bn Atlantic Gateway concept – described her appointment as “a significant milestone” in its development. Williams has also held a series of other senior positions including vice-chairman of the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities and a board member of the North West Development Agency.
She is also currently director of of the North West Rail Campaign and chair of the Heritage Lottery North West.
Geoff Muirhead, chair of the Atlantic Gateway Partnership, said: “Susan is an exceptional candidate and we are delighted that someone with her skills, experience and knowledge of the area is joining the Atlantic Gateway Partnership at such a crucial time in its development.
“Susan will be a key force in driving forward Atlantic Gateway’s priorities, which include the Northern Hub, the development of the area’s ports and canal network and Daresbury Science and innovation Campus. These priorities are critical in attracting much-needed investment in to the North West, accelerating growth and creating jobs.”
She added: “I am delighted to have been appointed to this role and I look forward to working with the board and all of the private and public sector partners in the North West who together will contribute to economic growth in this region and the North as a whole.”
