Gorvins reports strong first half

REGIONAL law firm Gorvins is reporting strong first half fee income growth of 15% to £2.9m.

The 100-strong, Stockport-based firm said growth had been consistent across the business with double digit growth in its employment, litigation, matrimonial and the personal injury departments.

Managing partner Lorraine Lockie said Gorvins’ corporate department had been active as well: “We have shared in the success of some of our clients who have achieved key ambitions over the last six months, these include Arley Homes, Mondiale and Homes4U, who we advised on the acquisition of Chesters.

“Our corporate team have seen an increasing appetite for mergers, acquisitions and disposals in the first half of the year, demonstrating an increasing confidence in the marketplace.”

Other highlights include the appointments of Daniel Woodcock (commercial property) and Clare Ellison (matrimonial) and the recruitment of construction sector expert Kevin Connell.

The firm was also appointed to the Bank of Irelands’ UK Legal Panel during March.

Lorraine Lockie added: “We are delighted to be announcing such a strong performance during challenging times and have plans to build on this strong platform in the remaining six months of the year.

“Our recruitment programme will continue with particular emphasis on lateral hires. We aim to strengthen our core offering and extend departments with niche services.”
