Cheshire pubco opens The Wharf

CHESHIRE-based pub company Brunning and Price is opening its first Manchester venue, The Wharf at Castlefield.

The venue is at the former Jackson’s Wharf pub, which developer Peel Group had wanted to turn into apartments, but after five years of planning disputes abandoned its scheme and sold the site to Brunning and Price last December.

The Wharf, which opens today features a bar, bistro restaurant and outside terrace.

Originally founded in 1981, Chester-based Brunning and Price operates more than 30 unique pubs across the North West and North Wales and the south.

Although still run by one its founders, Graham Price, since  2007 it has been part of The Restaurant Group, the national leisure chain.

Brunning and Price was advised on the licence for The Wharf by Anthony Lyons and Felicity Harris-Knott from Manchester law firm Kuits.

Mr Lyons said: “Brunning and Price have a number of operations across the North West and this will be their first in Manchester. We very much like their approach and believe The Wharf will be a great addition to Castlefield.”
