Appointments: Fletcher’s new stadium role; Otone & more

PAUL Fletcher, the former chief executive of Burnley Football Club and one of the country’s top stadium experts has been appointed to oversee development of the Glyndŵr University Racecourse Stadium in Wrexham into a leading sports venue.

Lancashire-based Mr Fletcher, also previously the commercial director at new Wembley Stadium, has joined the university as stadium development director.

Acting in a consultant capacity, he will be advising on the redevelopment of the historic stadium, which was bought by the university last summer.

He said: “I am currently involved with a number of similar projects involving football and education and hope that my experience in stadium development will assist Glyndŵr University achieve their own exciting plans for this famous stadium.”

Glyndŵr University Vice-Chancellor Professor Michael Scott said: “The appointment of Paul Fletcher to advise on the development of the stadium will support the university’s continued development of higher education programmes related to sport, for the benefit of students and the wider community.”

HI-FI and computer speakers brand Otone Audio has appointed Robert McDougall as its national account manager.  Robert joins Altrincham-based Otone from global brand Sony, where he spent 12 years working as a national account manager in the UK.

Commenting on his new role Mr McDougall said: “During my years with Sony I developed an excellent eye for quality, and Otone really does step up to the mark and that has made me feel valued from day one.

“Otone prides itself on product design and sound quality and each system has its own unique style, which means there really is something for everyone within the range.”

LAW firm Hill Dickinson is seconding partner and commercial employment law specialist Kerstie Skeaping to its Chester office on a ‘regular’ basis.

The move is part of a drive by the Liverpool firm to grow its client base in the region.

She said: “I am very pleased to be a part of Hill Dickinson’s market-leading team in Chester. I took my Law Society exams at the Chester College of Law and, having specialised in employment law for 14 years I am looking forward to using the knowledge I have acquired to support clients in the region.”

Chester office head Robin Jones, added; “Kerstie will enable us to further exploit business development opportunities in the regional marketplace.”

NORTH West accountancy firm Cassons has appointed Helen Cowley as tax manager.
 
She joins Liverpool practice John Kerr in Liverpool. Commenting on her new challenge, Bolton-based Helen said: “I’ve worked for both national and independent firms in the past and have therefore dealt with a variety of clients, but it is the wide range of clients that Cassons deals with which really made them stand out for me.”

Tax partner Colin Tice added: “We are expanding our specialist tax team to meet client demand and to be able to give clients the best tax advice possible.  I know that Helen will prove to be a great asset for Cassons and therefore for our clients.”
