FWP’s £2m plan for Fylde Coast wedding venue

ARCHITECTURE firm the Frank Whittle Partnership (FWP) has unveiled a £2m vision to create a country wedding and conference destination on the Fylde Coast.
FWP’s expansion plans for The Villa in Wrea Green, near Blackpool, include two function suites, each capable of hosting weddings and events for up to 250 people.
The masterplan for the 31-bed country hotel venue also includes designing feature gardens for wedding photographs and spaces suitable to hold outdoor ceremonies. The Villa’s kitchen and back of house facilities will also be enhanced and more parking created. FWP, which has offices in Preston and Manchester, said the designs complement The Villa’s existing Georgian architecture.
Plans will be submitted to Fylde planners later this month. If approved, existing farm buildings and a temporary marquee would be removed and two new wings created. The main hotel will also get a new entrance.
The hotel is owned by businessman and landowner Simon Rigby who bought it in May 2010, through his company The Villa Wrea Green.
Richard McGonigal, project architect at FWP, said: “The Villa is already in a fantastic setting and we believe our expansion plan will make it even more special. Enhanced kitchen and back of house facilities will ensure each wedding and function can be serviced with efficiency and style.
“We have designed the function rooms in a modern style, which will also be highly suitable for conferences and meetings, adding to The Villa’s attractive offering.”
Earlier this year FWP handed over a £500,000 expansion at The Villa in time for the recent Open Golf Championship at nearby Lytham. The extension has created four Staterooms and two family suites – adding to the range of accommodation on offer.
