HIMOR draws up Standish masterplan

HIMOR, the Newton-le-Willows-based developer, has drawn up a masterplan for a mixed-use scheme on the edge of Standish, near Wigan.

It wants to improve the existing Bradley Hall Trading Estate and develop the area around it, adding 550 homes.

HIMOR’s planning chief Sam Stafford told TheBusinessDesk that the company had been working up plans for the trading estate but extended the project – now known as Barrowcroft – after becoming aware of a shortfall of 2,500 homes across the borough.

“The masterplan has been produced to illustrate what development at this part of Standish might look like,” said Stafford.

“The principle of redeveloping the trading estate can already be supported in planning terms, but the wider ‘Barrowcroft’ proposals will depend upon how best the planning inspector believes the council might address the housing shortfall.”

As well as homes there will be a neighbourhood centre and woodland will be handed to the community.

HIMOR controls most of the area, although there are some long leaseholds in the trading estate held by other interests.

The business is owned by Will Ainscough and his father Bill, who is also the chairman and owner of Langtree and Wainhomes.
