Downing targets start-ups with flexible lets

LIVERPOOL property group Downing has secured the first letting of its new first “Flexi-Office” space.
The group has invested £158,000 refurbishing parts of its portfolio to attract smaller businesses looking for cheaper space.
Flexi-Offices are aimed at businesses with one to 10 staff and promise short contracts on serviced space. Tenants can set up their own phones services, reducing costs.
The first tenant is Class Act Theatre UK which has taken one of nine suites at the grade II Listed Port of Liverpool building.
John Busow, director at Class Act, said: “After setting up the company we needed an headquarters that reflected our name and the Port of Liverpool Building is so impressive and will give our business real gravitas.
“As a start-up, having control over occupational costs and flexibility over contract length while receiving the support and access to facilities that a major commercial landlord provides will be crucial to our long-term success.”
Flexi-Office suites range from 150-1,000 sq ft and are available for one month upwards.
