Hymansons go for evening trade at 47 King Street West

A FAMILY-owned tea rooms business, launched less than a year ago by a former Manchester lawyer and his sons, is launching an evening menu after a £120,000 investment.
The venue, 47 King Street West in Manchester city centre, was launched by MIke Hymanson and his sons Barry and Howard.
After opening last December the business traded as a franchise of Bury-based tea rooms Leckenby’s, but was rebranded 47 King Street West in March after the Hymansons exited the franchise.
Head chef Rod Francis, formerly of Lounge 10 has been appointed to launch the evening menu, based on French and British classic recipes, which will be initially available Wednesday to Saturday.
The £120,000 investment includes a new bar area to complement the restaurant’s 65 covers.
Mike Hymanson, one of the founders of city law firm Lewis Hymanson Small, said: “It was always our plan to open in the evenings but we were waiting until we had a chef of Rod’s calibre to join us.
“We have given him free rein to come up with what we think is an unrivalled menu and we have started with a soft launch, opening in the night-time from Wednesdays and through the weekend.
“Feedback so far has been fantastic and we know that together, we’ll put ‘47’ on the map.”
His son Barry, also a former lawyer, added: “We see a really good opportunity for the evening menu and we are in an excellent location so close to House of Fraser and other popular restaurant venues.
“We offer a friendly, family welcome and are sure that even in this tough market place if you have the offer right and the atmosphere right people will come and then return.”
