Headdress specialist buys Carlisle site
A LANCASHIRE company which specialises in weaving upmarket Saudi Arabian headshawls has spent £1.5m on a Carlisle warehouse.
Lappet Manufacturing, based in Garstang, has bought the former Carlisle Glass Warehousing and trade counter Centre in Carlisle.
It plans to use the space to expand its neighbouring facility.
The site has an old mill building as well as 60,000 sq ft of modern warehouse units on a 2.3-acre site.
Lappet Manufacturing’s managing director Bob Quick said: “We had an opportunity to acquire space adjacent to our existing premises and will be using most of it to warehouse our raw materials.”
The firm was represented by Nolan Redshaw. Director Mike Redshaw said: “This recent acquisition allows our client to increase their manufacturing capability and expand one of their satellite factories, which adjoins Carlisle Glass.
“The deal is highly significant, as it demonstrates that certain sectors of UK manufacturing are doing extremely well.”
