Ensor reports profits surge

BUILDING materials and security products group Ensor has reported a strong set of half year figures with operarting profits doubling to £1.2m in the six months to the end of September.

The company based in Wythenshawe, Manchester, said sales in the period had increased 46% to £16.2m as revenues were boosted by the January acquisition of security business Technocover.

Chairman Ken Harrison described the results as “very pleasing” as the AIM-listed company raised its half-year dividend 45% to 0.4p per share.

Following the strong underlying trend, pre-tax profits rose from £549,000 to £1,07m.

Mr Harrison said: “The results include the first full contribution by Technocover which has continued to improve since the acquisition of the company in January this year.

” The results for our other established businesses have been in line
with our expectations, holding up well during an economically flat period.
There are some signs of improvements in the economy as we start the second half of our financial year, but we are not relying on these signs and continue to work hard to maintain a tight ship”
