Dantec targets marine growth

MERSEYSIDE hose manufacturer Dantec said sales to the marine sector have trebled over the past year.

The Moreton-based firm makes composite hoses for the transfer of petrol, chemicals and liquefied gases.

It said marine sales were being driven by the ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore market, helped by contracts with firms such as Norwegian chemical tanker group Odfjell and UK-based ship transfer firm Safe STS.

Dantec, which has annual sales of around £6m, would not dislcose figures for marine sales.

Managing director John Laidlaw said: “Our big areas for focus in the marine sector are… to make contact with more ship management companies in the ship-to-ship market. In addition to that we are determined to win more of the ship-to-shore market from terminal operators. We presently have a small percentage of this market globally but see massive potential for growth.”

The firm employs around 50 staff.
