Armstrong Watson expands in Yorkshire

CUMBRIA-based accountancy firm Armstrong Watson has strengthened its presence in Yorkshire after merging with Skipton-based Robertshaw Myers.

The merger means Carlisle-based Armstrong Watson now has 400 employees across 14 offices in the North and southern Scotland with a combined turnover of £20m.

Armstrong Watson said its present Skipton office was looking to expand its service offering and Robertshaw Myers offered a good fit. All 18 staff and five partners from Robertshaw Myers will be joining Armstrong Watson.

The office will be led up by Michael Bottomley, managing partner of Robertshaw Myers, and will be supported by Armstrong Watson’s Skipton-based operational director Robert Whitehead.

Armstrong Watson’s managing partner, Paul Dickson, said: “Robertshaw Myers is an incredibly well respected firm across the region and there was a clear synergy with how we both approached our services to clients.

“The combined knowledge from both offices will continue to develop Armstrong Watson’s position in Skipton and the Aire Valley and I know we will have a strengthened team focused on providing private individuals, fast growing start-ups and established businesses across the region with the right financial advice.”

Mr Bottomley added: “As a team we delivered excellent client service and I am confident that the larger team will provide businesses and private clients with invaluable advice and the personal touch needed to help develop both their immediate objectives as well as longer term needs.”
