Appointments: Snook earns his wings with American; new chief at Marketing Cheshire, Irwin Mitchell & more

MANCHESTER-born Jonathan Snook has landed a top-level role with American Airlines based in Texas.

Mr Snook has become Senior Vice President, customer service, is responsible for managing all aspects of American’s global team focused on the customer experience, from reservations and airport operations to inflight service and baggage handling.

The Manchester City supporter has worked his way up the the career ladder at AA, having joined the airline in 1986 as an airport agent.

He was previously Vice President – operations planning and performance at the airline, and was promoted after Craig Kreeger left American to become chief executive at Virgin Atlantic.

LAW firm Irwin Mitchell has strengthened its growing Manchester corporate team with the appointment of Richard Life from Addleshaw Goddard.

Joining as an associate solicitor, Mr Life specialises in private equity, M&A and public equity. During his eight years at Addleshaws he advised on several deals for Lancashire’s Daisy Group.

Late last year Irwin Mitchell recruited Jon Close from Freeth Cartwright as its first North West corporate partner.

FORMER advertising executive Katrina Michel has been appointed chief executive at Marketing Cheshire, the agency which promotes growth in Cheshire and Warrington.

She has previously worked at Publicis and Ogilvy and was chairman of CBJWT in Manchester from 2005 to 2007.

She has also worked in her own consultancy roles and has recently handled projects for American Express and Unilever.

She said: “Cheshire is exceptional because of its businesses, people and experiences and I want to spread the message far and wide that Cheshire is the brightest star in the North.”

Edward Pysden, chair of Marketing Cheshire, said: “Katrina brings strong marketing skills and expertise from a competitive private sector background. In combination with the experience of our team we are expecting a strong and refreshed focus on marketing  the undoubted strengths of Cheshire and Warrington.” 

She replaces Chris Brown who left to join Marketing Liverpool in October.

LANCASHIRE architecture practice Croft Goode has appointed three new members to its team.

Residential design specialist architect James Kelly has joined the Kirkham-based practice from DFSP Architects in Yorkshire. Anna Meredith, an assistant architect has been hired from Manchester-based Reid Architects, while Joseph Kelly has also joined Croft Goode as an architectural assistant.

Mick Goode, a director of Croft Goode said: “These appointments strengthen the firm as we continue to see steadily levels of work coming through. They also reaffirm our ongoing commitment to working with graduates and post-graduates who can develop and flourish with the business.”

PROPERTY development and regeneration consultant AspinallVerdi has appointed Simon Turner as regional director in its Manchester office.
 
Mr Turner, a chartered surveyor and a chartered town planner, worked with Atam Verdi and Ben Aspinall at DTZ in the late 1990s and has since worked for King Sturge and developers Gladman as project director.

Latterly, he has run Simon Turner Consulting and has worked on number of major development proposals including Ashton Green Sustainable Urban Extension and North Northallerton Development Area.

THE Manchester office of property consultant GVA has appointed three new staff after winning a contract to manage Everything Everywhere’s 16,000 base stations across the UK.

GVA’s national telecoms team won the long-term contract in December which covers rent and rates payments, estates data, handling rent reviews and lease renewals, rating appeals and general estate management.

The three will transfer from the former Orange network. Ruth Barker is joining as mobile broadband network finance administrator, in addition to Rob Jeffrey and Mike Wharton being appointed as estates surveyors.
